Dispensary

The Vivekananda Netralaya also includes a dispensary that initially began with a Homeopathy department and later expanded to include Allopathy, Dental, and ENT departments. In the year 2022-23, the dispensary served a significant number of patients, and those opting for Homeopathy treatment received free medicines. During the year 2022-23 the Dispensary had been able to render service to 8,715 patients. Patients who opted for Homeopathy treatment were provided with free medicines.

Anesthesiologists are perioperative physicians dedicated to providing comprehensive medical care for patients before, during, and after surgery.

Our team of extremely skilled and well-experienced anesthesiologists aim to provide optimum quality patient care not only in the operation theatres but also beyond it by optimizing pre-operative patient status and providing comprehensive patient care during the early postoperative period. Over the years the Department has expanded its services from simple and traditional to complex and advanced, setting up its own high standards in anaesthetic care. The department follows an integrated approach and standard protocols for patient care and remains committed to evidence based practice and continuous quality improvement.

The Department provides laboratory-based discipline in Pathology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Specialized Biochemistry and Microbiology services to ophthalmologists, ENT specialists and related professionals by evaluating samples taken from patients to arrive at a diagnostic opinion. The collaboration between laboratory professionals and clinical specialists ensures a seamless and efficient workflow, promoting accurate and timely diagnoses.

The department of laboratory services was established in 2019 and has grown in strength in the number of samples processed and variety of tests performed. We have a dynamic team of doctors, skilled technicians, and trained paramedic staff. The quality standards and protocols are maintained, and we are accredited under the NABH. We also have a system to check our results by validation and association with EQAS. We are a referral lab center for several eye and ENT services in Dehradun and process microbiology and pathology samples with accurate results.

The Department of Public Health (DPH) works to implement the networks’ aim to make high quality eye care available to all sections of the society, regardless of their economic, social, or geographical status.

The DPH also represents Vivekananda Netralaya , and the work being done across the network, at national and international platforms such as the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, where leaders from the public health for eye care industry engage in scientific discussion and debate, learn from each other, and collaborate.

At present, the ambit of the department encompasses Community Ophthalmology, Public Health Research, Projects and Outreach Activities, Secondary Centers, Primary Care and Geographical Growth Strategies.

Audiology is a licensed healthcare profession that focuses on the prevention and assessment of hearing loss and balance disorders in individuals of all ages. Audiologists are highly trained healthcare professionals specializing in this field. Audiologists work with individuals of all ages, from newborns to the elderly. They address hearing and balance issues in diverse populations, including infants, children, adults, and seniors.


Symptoms of Neuro-ophthalmology:

  • Sudden decrease or loss of vision
  • Sudden transient loss of vision (called transient ischemic attack or eye stroke)
  • Visual hallucinations
  • Double vision or diplopia
  • Intractable headaches
  • Pupillary abnormalities (sluggish reaction, the difference in size of the pupils)
  • Sudden onset of difficulties in identifying colors
  • Inability to tolerate bright light
  • Visual Field Defects
  • Squint or strabismus (especially adult onset)

Who We Are

This department has a fully air-conditioned chamber and a sound proof cubicle inside with an excellent sound system and audiometric arrangements. All forms of deafness and speech problems (deafmutism, stuttering, voice problems, autism) were dealt with in the Hearing and Speech Clinic. This special clinic had been aiding hearing impaired children as well as geriatric population.

There is increasing number of patients attending both outpatient department and hearing and speech centreas information about the clinic is spreading far and wide.
