Universal Temple: Built between 1988–1998, inaugurated on Buddha Purnima in 1998, Daily worship (Nitya Puja), Ekadashi kirtans, homas, and satsangs.Celebrations include birthdays of Sri Ramakrishna, Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda, as well as festivals like Durga Puja, Kali Puja, Shivaratri, Christmas, Buddha Purnima, and more. Library with nearly 18,000 books and multiple periodicals. A book stall stocks Vedanta literature. Women’s Sangha (“Sarada Seva Sangha”): Approximately 25 women meet bi-monthly for bhajans and discussions Hosts lectures, discourses, and meditation retreats; notably attracts 20,000+ during Durga Puja 2023. 

 


Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Kishanpur – Dehradun

Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Kishanpur (Dehradun), is a branch center of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math. Nestled at the foothills of the Himalayas, the Ashrama offers a serene spiritual atmosphere inspired by the ideals of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda.

Founded in 1934, the Ashrama has been serving society through spiritual, educational, medical, and social welfare activities. It houses a beautiful Universal Temple, a well-stocked library, Vivekananda Netralaya (eye hospital), and various community outreach programs. Regular worship, scriptural classes, retreats, and festivals like Durga Puja are conducted with devotion and participation from devotees across India.

Guided by the motto “Atmano Mokshartham Jagat Hitaya Cha” (For one’s own liberation and for the welfare of the world), the Ashrama continues to be a center of peace, service, and spiritual growth.

Spiritual Possession

  • Daily Spiritual Practices (Morning & Evening Arati, Meditation, Japa, Scripture Reading ).
  • Special Spiritual Programs (Bhajans & Kirtans, Group Chanting / Vedic Recitation).
  • Occasional or Annual Events (Guru Purnima, Ramakrishna/Sarada Devi/Vivekananda Jayanti, Durga Puja / Kali Puja, Initiation (Diksha).
  • Seva (Service) as Sadhana – Voluntary Service (Karma Yoga), Teaching, Medical, or Educational Seva.

Mission & Social Services

  • Eye Hospital (Vivekananda Netralaya) –  A charitable 50-bed facility with multiple vision centers and outreach camps.
  • Dispensary-  Offers homeopathic and allopathic free treatment; served over 52,107  patient.
  • Education & Welfare: Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa (GAP) – Provides nutrition, education, and healthcare for children.
  • Vivekananda Abhyudaya Prakalpa:  Similar upliftment efforts.
  • Relief work during disasters and COVID-19, including distribution of rations, winter clothes, medicines
